Website cookies

Cookies are small text files that a web browser saves on the user’s device. Among their many functions, cookies enable maintaining a user’s preferences, such as their language settings, when the user moves from one page to another on the website.

The strictly necessary cookies are only used to ensure the technical performance of the website. Connections to the website are always secure (https).

The non-essential cookies used on the website are analytics cookies used for visitor tracking and quality control. We request you to enable the non-essential cookies, since they help us to improve our website. The data collected is not used for marketing and tracking data is not disclosed to third parties. Only Finnish ministries have access to the tracking data, which they use to improve their online communications.

Other services and their cookies used for improvement

The Ministry of Education and Culture uses the Askem service to collect feedback from users of the online services so that the content of the website can be improved. If you accept the statistical cookies, response buttons and a feedback field will appear on the pages so you can give your opinion on the content of the pages.

Askem cookies store a randomly generated string of characters in the visitor's browser to identify events from the same browser. The cookies cannot be used to identify users. Askem does not store any third party cookies and does not share or forward any information. Third parties cannot utilise the cookies or information related to them. Askem cookies are stored in your browser for a maximum of 30 days.

The siteimprove service gives information on the quality of the website and problems related to issues such as accessibility, how well the links work and how easily webpages are found in search engines. The Ministry of Education and Culture uses this information to fix and improve accessibility and usability.

IP addresses are automatically anonymised. Neither the collected amount of clicks on pages/links/documents nor the data on the number of views can be linked to a natural person. Siteimprove does not disclose the information and third parties cannot make use of the cookies or any information that can be linked to them.

Siteimprove cookies are stored in your browser for a maximum of 30 days.
