Digital learning environments in higher education institutions
The key project develops the digital learning environments in higher education institutions, the range of education the institutions offer online and the digital education cooperation between higher education institutions.
Digitalisation enables cooperation between higher education institutions in the provision of teaching. The institutions are developing an extensive range of online teaching to enable flexible studies for students across the boundaries of higher education institutions. A simple administrative way to include studies from other higher education institutions into one's own degree will be created and the institutions will be steered to develop the required links between information systems and the shared information pools.
The aim is that higher education institutions jointly produce teaching online and agree on mutual cooperation and division of work in online teaching. Teaching can also be offered openly to improve the opportunities, for example, for students in secondary education to familiarise themselves with higher education studies. Information pools and information systems will be developed between 2016 and 2018.
The versatile use of digital tools will be increased in teaching, assessment practices diversified with digital methods, teaching facilities equipped support digital teaching methods and teaching cooperation between higher education institutions improved by sharing best practices between the institutions. The development of the EXAM exam aquarium and expanding its use will be supported between 2016 and 2017. The source code of the application will be made available for everyone to use by opening it with the Open Source code licence in 2017.
The digital competence of teaching staff will be improved and learning analytics supportive of studying and guidance will be developed by organising seminars that promote shared practices.
By taking advantage of the opportunities of digitalisation, efficiency in education and instruction will be improved, students offered a wider range of opportunities, and access to education by upper secondary level students will be improved.
- Higher education institution-specific measures regarding the objectives of the key project will be agreed in performance agreements with the universities and universities of applied sciences.
